Broadcast Documentary Production
When Spike was just a little boy (well, two men actually), the co-founders got in a boat and filmed the successful world record attempt by a Guernsey team to row from London to Paris in the fastest time.
The broadcast documentary follows the team through training and trials right the way up to their triumphant celebrations as they row across the line in Paris. This documentary is available on DVD and continues to be popular.
For Spike it meant there was a future in broadcast documentary production and Kosovo: The Hidden Enemy followed. The programme studies the work of the Mines Awareness Trust and the issue of landmines in former war ravaged areas of Kosovo. The hour long documentary was broadcast on The Community Channel and was extremely well received. By far the most successful Spike documentary to date was a commission from Discovery Home & Health for a one off special following the extreme weight loss surgery undergone by a Guernsey family. The Fat Family showed how one group of relations all underwent pioneering stomach stapling surgery in an effort to lose weight. They did! They lost a staggering 100 stone between them.
