Aviation giants Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems choose Spike
Over the years Spike has focused on diversification, not just across geographical locations but also across whole industry sectors. One of the most exciting projects this year was filming with new Spike clients and aviation giants, Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems (MABS). The MABS communication team contacted us with a view to updating their corporate film, which they use on a regular basis to show prospective and existing clients the scale and capability of the Meggitt UK operations.
A large portion of Meggitt clients are military fast jets and helicopters used by the world’s largest air forces. As many of the processes and testing facilities are top secret we had an MOD representative on hand to make sure that any classified equipment and technical specifications we filmed could not be identified.
Spike sent a crew to film on location in the UK and we spent a busy few days filming with our “top-spec” cameras as well as with a GoPro and time-lapse cameras to cover every angle. The editing was done back at our production facility in Jersey, using a combination of spectacular stock aircraft footage sourced by Spike and the factory footage we shot. One of Meggitt’s long-standing clients is the BAE Systems Hawk T1 flown by the Red Arrows, and it was great to edit “onboard” footage of the world’s top air display team into the film!
Spike’s in-house graphic artists took on the challenge of producing a suite of graphics – both 2D and 3D – that were on brand but also with a tech look similar to the Heads Up Display (HUD) in a pilot’s helmet.
“As a leading player in the aerospace technology industry we demand precision and professionalism from all our employees and our suppliers. Spike dovetailed perfectly with the team at our Coventry facility to produce a suite of corporate films which illustrate the scale and capability of our operations in the UK. There is no question that technically the Spike team are very adept – but it is their infectious enthusiasm and passion which make the whole experience very enjoyable. From the outset the production crew understood what we needed to achieve and we were kept informed throughout the project which was an important learning curve for us. I would not hesitate to recommend Spike for every type of production, from a staff BBQ to a full-on ‘all singing, all dancing’ corporate production – thank you Spike, you did us proud!”
