State of the Art Media Suites for Spike Productions

Monday 03 March 2008, 06:24am

At the begining of 2008 Spike Prodcutions moved into purpose built facilities in the heart of St Helier, Jersey.

The purpose built offices and edit suites provide the perfect surrondings for the multi-media agency to operate from on behalf of a multitude of clients.

Channel Island media company Spike has opened brand new offices and production suites in the heart of St Helier. More than £100,000 has been invested in state of the art editing facilities and office space to create a bespoke working environment for staff and clients. The Investment represents a big step for the company who are confident their business is going to continue to grow.

Spike’s joint Managing Director Warren Mauger is buoyant about the future, “We are confident that we are producing a very high quality product backed up by great service. We believe the market is growing as more and more companies realise how cost effective and powerful films can be for their business. Broadband has made the distribution of these products easier to a global audience which means corporate films have far more value to a company now than they did three or four years ago.”

The new facilities in Hilgrove Street are the first of their kind in the Channel Islands.  Purpose built surroundings now provide a first class environment for clients to share in the production process. The business also has in-house marketing and creative expertise which enables the team to deliver films that communicate strongly with the target audience.

Spike specialises in making high-quality, engaging and rewarding films for corporate clients with top-class marketing and communications requirements.

Since 2004 Spike has been delivered outstanding video productions for a wealth of clients in the Channel Islands and overseas. The company is at the forefront of the shift from traditional video media to online solutions and offers a range of WebTV and video streaming solutions.

About the investment in new state of the art equipment and offices joint Managing Director Liam Le Guillou said, “Since we started out four years ago we have steadily progressed, taking on more clients and more staff. The four production suites we are now able to offer in Jersey allow a truly unique working environment for everyone involved in the production process. The investment we have made includes a new media storage system which allows all of our edit and graphics suites to work in unison with each other, dramatically increasing the workflow between departments.”

Spike developed a web streaming product more than a year ago called Spikecast (www.spikecast.co.uk) this allows clients to benefit from web streaming without having to rebuild their websites or work through internal internet bureaucracy.  The next generation of Spikecast is about to go live allowing for much more interactivity between end users and a company’s video site.

Warren Mauger added, “Spike is at the cutting edge of online video solutions and as we move into 2008 and beyond our services are going to become more and more vital to business wishing to communicate effectively with various audiences and get the required results. We are now in much a stronger position to offer even better client service and with our expanding team, businesses using our services can be assured of fantastic creative solutions from knowledgeable broadcast professionals.”

Spike’s future lies in Webcasting and the business already produces content for a number of web tv channels. This year Spike will film, edit, encode and stream hundreds of hours of content from its premises in St Helier which will be seen by audiences around the world. The company is also developing a number of brand new WebTV channels which will launch throughout the year. It is an exciting time in the industry and the Spike team are in the thick of it.

Jersey’s Minister for Economic Development, Senator Philip Ozouf, commented, "I have toured Spike’s new premises and seen their state of the art facilities at first hand.  I was highly impressed with the investment Spike has made. It signifies the belief smaller companies have in their own ability and their competency to service and compete with other industries.  Spike’s directors are to be commended for their efforts in building such a strong company in such a small space of time.  I look forward to seeing some of the exciting work and projects that will come out of their studios."
