The Channel Island’s Web TV company Spike Productions (thats us!) has won Bronze in Europe’s top visual communications awards.
Spike Productions was recognized on Friday night in the Web TV category at the annual IVCA awards at the Grosvenor House hotel in London.

The International Visual Communications Association is Europe’s largest association for production professionals. The awards are recognized globally as marks of excellence for effective business communication in corporate video, live events, interactive media projects, business television and websites.
It was Spike’s online TV channel for the contemporary art market that made the short list of entries. www.theartnewspaper.tv was up against strong competition from Microsoft and Enjoy England.
Through the Web TV site which was designed and developed by Spike, the team turns the paper’s popular coverage into engaging televisual content. Programmes are watched by audiences principally in North America but also in Europe, The Middle East and Asia.
Joint Managing Director of Spike Warren Mauger said, “Years of research and development has gone into our online video solutions, to be in a position where a platform we have designed and built, distributes content we have produced to a global audience is phenomenal. We are so proud of our team to have won this award. To be up against Microsoft and Visit England was tough but shows the level we are been performing at.”
Liam Le Guillou joint Managing Director of Spike said, “Winning an IVCA Award is an endorsement of the highest creative and professional standards of programme making and one of the most important accolades of its kind in the World. Our online video solutions inform audiences, change hearts and minds, re-energize staff, teach a range of skills and importantly make a significant impact to a company’s bottom line.”
In their citation the judges said “Designed for a very specific “affinity” audience, the judges commended its breadth of content, appealing to this under served community. Well produced and stylish, the Web TV format will offer new opportunities for advertisers targeting art lovers as well as further content available on subscription”
The Art Newspaper covers all aspects of the art market and the issues which affect it. It is part of a network of publications, with editorial offices in London, New York, Paris, Turin and Athens and has an international readership made up of collectors, consultants, dealers, curators, public policy makers and those with a professional as well as personal interest in the global art market.
Since Spike went into partnership with the Art Newspaper, web traffic has been dramatically increased. Following the re-launch of www.theartnewspaper.tv last October significantly more subscribers have joined the audience base.
Spike Production’s online video solutions are also much in evidence in the local corporate market with a number of Channel Island companies using the team’s technology to create and stream powerful marketing and communications films via the web.
