Spike Smashes Into UK Top 50 Corporate Production Companies

Thursday 27 March 2008, 07:56am

Spike Productions has been ranked number 36 in the top 50 corporate production companies in the UK by Televisual magazine.

Televisual is the broadcast and corporate communications industry’s monthly trade magazine and this is the fifteenth year of its highly respected Corporate Communications Survey.

For a place in the Top 50, companies are awarded scores in categories that include the number of commissions, hours of content delivered, and their reputation amongst their peers.

There are over 2,250 production houses in the UK that provide strategic communications employing films, videos, web developments, interactive media, live events, and experiential communications.

At the beginning of 2008 Spike was amongst those surveyed about staff & turnover as well as corporate, TV and Commercial production.

The news reinforces Spike’s position as the number one independent production company in the Channel Islands. Spike employs seven staff across Jersey and Guernsey, and has recently established new facilities in the heart of St Helier.

Working across a number of areas including Web TV, corporate films for events, DVD production and live streaming the team at Spike is delighted to have achieved a position in the top 50 national companies.

Spike’s Guernsey Managing Director Warren Mauger said, “We are all very pleased with where we have ranked, it is hard for a company like ours to compare ourselves to UK competitors, but this accolade shows that we are making huge strides in our industry and that we have the respect of our peers. In all our productions we aim for a level of quality that sits alongside some of the very best work coming out of London and other big media centres like Manchester.”

Spike’s Senior Producer Phil Bouchard said, “As a strategic media agency creating content for a variety of marketing and communication uses we offer a complete service to clients looking for audio visual solutions. Many UK companies don’t have the in-house production or marketing expertise and at Spike we have all the necessary skills to develop engaging solutions for a variety of business types across all industries.”

The news of Spike’s entry in to the corporate top 50 comes as the company prepares to celebrate its fourth year in business.

Spike’s Jersey based Managing Director Liam Le Guillou said, “What seems like four short years ago we set out to build a company that would offer high quality, creative and engaging productions for TV, DVD and the Web. It is testament to the team that we have at Spike across Jersey and Guernsey that we have broken into the Televisual Corporate 50 at the first time of being surveyed. We aim to compete on a national playing field and this listing endorses the fact that we do and can win business internationally. With recently qualified marketers on the staff and new technology installed at our facilities in Hilgrove Street we are now fully immersed in the world of new media, devising innovative new ways of delivering client communications via the web.”

Appetite for video content in the Channel Islands is at an all time high, the challenge for Spike Productions is to make client’s money work harder and offer the best possible return on investment. The team at Spike works like a strategic agency, adding value and creativity and offering online distribution solutions. This approach gives clients the satisfaction that the price they pay reflects superior quality and achieves multiple benefits.

Mr. Le Guillou added, “There are some companies in our industry who do things at low cost, and some clients who think they can make videos themselves.  Our challenge is to create videos that add value, have a direct impact and achieve results. As a strategic agency we work with clients wanting to maximize their usage of the medium, making the content and delivery method work hard for their aims.”

As Spike enters its fifth year the team is investing in live-streaming technology designed to webcast conferences around the world as they happen. Meanwhile, Spike will continue to serve current and future clients with creative productions and high service levels here in the Channel Islands and further afield.
