Cine Guernsey organises regular screenings of films that don’t always make the cinema but still attract a wide audience, they have made a big impact since forming three years ago and won three awards at the BFFS national Film society of the year awards regarded as the film socierty’s Oscars.
Warren Mauger co- founder of Spike says it’s a good to be involved with an event like this.
“It’s great to be in a position to help the work of Cine Guernsey in the island and bring films that wouldn’t normally be shown to an audience who are hungry for non Hollywood films. We are passionate about making films in one form or another and are lucky to work in this industry Spike had been looking for a way to support the work of Cine Guernsey and this was a perfect opportunity."
Guernsey Lilly International Film Festival
Spike productions have agreed a three year deal with the Guernsey Lilly Film festival to sponsor the top awards of the event. The festival attracts entries from amateur film makers from around the world. Managing Director Liam Le Guillou was one of the judges and thought the standard was incredibly high. Speaking after the long day of judging Liam said
“it has been a very long day but for a film lover it’s been brilliant watching so many well made films on such a broad range of subjects, I have been really surprised by the high standard and delighted to be representing Spike as the sponsor of the top award”
Spike are committed to supporting the Islands they operate in and have chosen to sponsor events that are relevant to their business. Joint Managing Warren Mauger said
“this is a brilliant event to be involved with, the organisers put in a massive amount of effort throughout the year to make sure it is a success and the large number of international entries of such quality is testament to the hard graft that is put into making it such a marvellous festival.”
The awards ceremony is being held during a special week-end of activities held in Guernsey from 12th-14th October
