Spike conceived the storyboard for the airline and shooting took place in June. Led by Warren Mauger, the team at Spike worked with – what in local TV commercial terms was – a big budget to bring the airline’s vision to the screen.
Blue Islands owner Derek Coates is over the moon with the results. He said, "Over the years I have worked with some of London’s leading advertising agencies. I must say that the professionalism and creativity displayed by Warren’s team has been of the highest calibre. We are delighted with the results."
The adverts were shot over the course of three days on the ground in Jersey and in the air above the Channel Islands. Spike’s seven-man-crew was complimented by a number of actors who have worked on The Bill and Eastenders. Pilots, ground staff and airport officials added to the complexity of filming the commercial which required a high level of co-ordination and supervision.
Under the production management of Spike’s Guernsey MD Warren Mauger, everything went smoothly. He said, "When Derek Coates came to us, it was obvious he was looking for something extra special. After a pitch involving an animated version of our vision for his commercial we were on board and looking straight away at the logistics of such a commercial production."
Spike’s Jersey MD Liam le Guillou was the location director and online editor. He said about the commercial: "It was an exciting project to work on, giving the whole Spike team something to get their teeth into. It was pleasing to be working with cameraman Kevin Pearcy again as he has previously worked with Spike on many corporate productions producing images of the highest calibre. Over the years Kevin has worked with the Spice Girls and Eminem on various projects including films and music videos. His expertise complimented the skills of our in-house team and added another dimension to the whole project."
Warren Mauger went on to say, "For this project Spike took on the full role of an advertising agency utilising the raft of business and marketing skills available from within our young dynamic team. We produced a series of animated storyboards in advance of filming to make sure everything was perfect on the shoot. We are a young company with a keen eye for detail and we pride ourselves in leaving no stone unturned in the quest for the best. As we continue to grow and continue to turn out top class TV, Commercial and Corporate productions, we expect to help many more companies like Blue Islands get their message across."
