The Spike team have just returned from filming in London at the newly refurbished Savoy Hotel on the Strand.

The two man crew of Phil and Tom were working with Photovoltaics International who were holding the inaugural Solar Power UK Conference. Around 460 delegates representing companies from across the globe listened to industry sector experts discussing the future of the blossoming solar industry in Britain.

Our crew conducted more than twenty interviews with key industry figures at the event including the Head of the Department for Energy and Climate Change, David Wagstaff, who confirmed the Coalition Government’s ongoing support of Photovoltaics as part of the renewable energy strategy in the UK.

Spike has a long standing relationship with the organisation who publish the leading solar power technical journal, Photovoltaics International magazine, and we regularly film at industry trade shows across Europe in Munich, Hamburg and Valencia. Spike’s experience in broadcasting, news and web tv provide a good fit for the client as we can work on our own gathering interviews and features on the latest industry developments.

Photovoltaics International chief editor David Owen said "Even though hiring a local film crew may be slightly cheaper, we prefer to fly the team from Spike to cover these events as they know and understand our product. It is one less thing for my team to worry about as we know Spike will deliver a quality product, on time and on budget, so we can just leave them to get on with it.’

After day one of the conference the delegates were invited onboard one of London’s premier floating restaurants for a dazzling dinner cruise on the Thames. Our cameras were there to capture the flavour of the evening as industry heavy weights sipped Champagne while they drifted past the spectacularly lit London landmarks of Westminster, the London Eye, Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf.

It is hoped the event will be even bigger and better next year and the footage we shot at this event will be edited into a promotional film to support the marketing program behind the 2011 Solar Power UK Conference.
