In September 2010 Spike was commissioned for the fourth year running to produce content for the Annual Institute of Directors debate in Guernsey.

For a small island, Guernsey is surprisingly successful and this isn’t just down to its favourable tax regime or buoyant finance industry.

There are many elements that make the island a success, from the quality of life, free parking, quirky laws and ability to start up businesses that can compete on an international scale.

Top businessmen choose Guernsey as their base for its links to Britain and Europe and the better lifestyle it can give them and their families.

In this film our interviewees explain what for them is Guernsey’s USP and put across an interesting mix of opinions.

Interviewees include:

  • Julian Winser - Schroders Bank and Chamber of Commerce President
  • Charles Parkinson – Minister for Treasury and Resources
  • John Perkins - Joint Managing Director, Specsavers Optical Group
  • Stephen Haines – Entrepreneur & Founder, Carte Blanche and the “from me to you” brand
  • Graham Parrott – Tax Partner Ernst & Young
  • Larry Granger – Confederation of Guernsey Industry
