Joe Avary
Joe brings more than two decades of video production and broadcast experience to the Spike Productions team. He started work for us in 2020, initially working on live cricket broadcasts. Being American, he had no idea what the score was or what was going on. His time filming baseball was perfect for following the action and he is pretty good at it.
Joe’s done it all, including being a presenter – with our favourite moment having an interview crashed by Richard Branson. Most recently, he was the senior reporter and weather presenter for Cayman 27 News in the Cayman Islands. Before that he worked for affiliates in Atlanta, GA, Nashville, TN, Asheville, NC, Greensboro, NC, and Omaha, NE. He has been on the campaign trail during the US presidential elections, roamed the sidelines of major sporting events, interviewed international celebrities and heads of state, and provided on-the-ground coverage from natural disasters and other noteworthy news events such as the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre.
His work has been honoured by the Associated Press, the National Press Photographers Association, and with a regional Emmy award. Joe and his wife relocated to Guernsey in 2019. A published poet, he is currently working on his first full-length novel. We think Joe is a calm person in the storm of live filming, he is a great character and fits in perfectly. Everyone needs a Joe in their corner and we are proud to have him working with us.
